Powers —
Skills: Eddie is a mechanic. He knows how to repair cars and he knows how to hotwire one. He's a skilled storyteller. Something of a survivalist. And knows how to handle himself in a fight. He also knows how to do a number of illegal side-hustles and not get caught.
Superpowers:
TALK WITH ANIMALS & ANIMAL CHARM.
A two-in-one ability.
Eddie will have the passive power to speak with animals. The actual range of the conversation depends on the intelligence of the animal he's speaking to. Animals he has a strong affinity towards - rats, bats, ravens, black cats - will also be drawn to him.
PROBABILITY CONTROL & Reality Manipulation.
In its base form, this presents as Eddie being incredibly lucky. Any disaster that could befall him won't - unless he thinks he deserves it, at which point it may be compelled to.
Where it actually becomes powerful is when he speaks things into being and rolls a dice to determine whether or not this is successful.
If any D20 he rolls lands on a high enough score, whatever he speaks into being will come true. Small things - like wishing new sets of dice into existence, or wanting snacks from thin air - are fairly easily done and can be rerolled multiple times. However large scale things that would cause any kind of major environmental changes or bend the rules of reality as he knows it can only be done once and if the flubs the roll, it's done.
This power can't affect the free will of others, but can change the circumstances in the world around him.
At maximum strength, with other people believing strongly in whatever image he's creating in their minds, this can ascend to full tier reality manipulation. This power requires two things to work: unwavering conviction in himself, and being able to fully picture the world as he wants it in his mind. It also requires other people around him to see what he's seeing and to live fully in that moment.
Limitations: The success of this is also dependent on the literal roll of a dice. I'll give my fellow mods / the players of the thread the option to roll to determine their success.
The bigger parts of Eddie's abilities also require people around him to buy into what he's selling. He can't change the world on his own.
Personality —
Please EITHER (1) Summarize your character's personality — including motivations, behaviors, and psychology — in 300-600 words OR (2) Respond to the questions below.
What were your character's most formative experiences?:
01. Being raised in a chaotic household. We're not given very many details on what eddie's early years were like, but it can be assumed that his mother was not around and his father involved his son in dangerous criminal activity. Their relationship was not good, and Eddie was eventually taken into the care of his loving uncle. As a result, Eddie knows what a loving family actually looks like - and has sworn off ever being like his father.
02. The introduction of music into his life was also a key kick-off point. Eddie heard metal music and fell in love with it, forming a band called Corroded Coffin with some friends. The band is still together and still preforms gigs around town. This being the 80s and the height of Satanic Panic meant that it made Eddie stand out that much more.
Eddie learned at this time that if he embraced what people called him - freak and other nasty things - the words lost their power. He could make them uncomfortable by being unabashedly himself, and the louder and more himself he was, the more uncomfortable they would be. Conforming to their expectations is what gave them power over him, and embracing it allowed him power over them.
At some point he founded the Hellfire Club, a D&D club at the school intended to be a safe refuge for other outcasts. Eddie goes out of his way to look for those little lost sheep who need a flock and provides them safe haven. The kids in the Hellfire Club aren't often messed with because Eddie has crafted a dangerous persona - that while being all him, is him amped up to 11.
03. Being held back a year. This is Eddie's third go-around of grade twelve and he is -- was -- determined to finally get through and walk out with a diploma so he could finally put Hawkins in his rear view mirror. However being held back allowed him to meet Dustin Henderson and Mike Wheeler, two little nerds he took under his wing. And he trusts them enough to leave it to them when he goes on to graduate.
04. The Murder of Chrissy Cunningham and the introduction to the upside down flipped everything he knew on his head. In the immediate aftermath of this, Eddie is forced to go on the run. This running ultimately dooms him - as if he'd stayed, his name would have been cleared as the murders continued happening around town.
The resulting journey allows Eddie to drop some of his guarded layers, getting comfortable around the sort of people he'd never have associated with at school. Comfortable enough to consider them friends. He's inspired by their belief in him, and their bravery in the face of horrors beyond comprehension.
05. Death. Eddie, realizing that every time he's run has lead to someone else dying in his place, turns around and stands his ground against the swarm of monster bats. He does what he can to distract them to buy his friends just a little more time, and dies moments after Vecna is defeated.
What values, morals, and/or philosophies does your character live by, and how are those beliefs demonstrated? What happens when they have to compromise what they believe in?
His friends above all else. Eddie knows the value of having people who love you for you - and so when he has those people, he'd literally die for them. He becomes the lightning road to protect them from the rest of the world's hatred.
Eddie seems to be fixated on authenticity. Being one hundred percent himself, no exceptions. Yet this is something of a mask. The Eddie persona he wears in Hawkins High is him upped to 11, acting dangerous and collecting small nerds to sit under his protection. Eddie has no problem getting in the faces of bullies or drawing attention to himself - as long as he's the biggest target in the room, the "freak", the dangerous unknown entity - people will leave those in his care alone.
The Eddie he is outside of those halls is gentler. Less focused on putting on a show to ward off the masses, and more on putting those he's decided are worthy of a private performance a degree of comfort.
What is your character afraid of? How does avoiding or preventing these fears influence their actions and decisions?
For all the devil may care attitude Eddie may throw around - he's afraid of dying at the hands of a town that hates him just for being him. Yet the people who do care about him and love him are what compelled him to stand his ground and die at the hands of the supernatural. So long as he's with a good party, he can adapt and keep pace. Alone, though, Eddie falters.
The supernatural also terrifies him. He loves it in fantasy, not when it's trying to kill him. Eddie can fairly confidently handle himself through most situations, but when faced with something otherworldly and incomprehensible - all he wants to do is run. Yet the beauty of the Upside Down isn't lost on him.
What goals does your character have right now? What do they want, and how do they go about getting it?
Eddie's goals are all going to be left in the dust. With his death in 1986 ruling out finally graduating and making something of himself with his band, Eddie will be a little unmoored here. Dabbling in multiple different areas until he finds something to fill the void that his death has left in him.
Eddie is tenacious. When he sets his mind to something, he'll do it no matter how long it takes. Be it graduating highschool or mastering Master of Puppets in just a few weeks. He's hard working, loyal, and willing to sacrifice his own happiness for the greater good. All of that would make him an excellent hero - were it not for the fact that he has a distaste for the establishment.

Gameplay —
Areas of Interest / Brainstorming:
Eddie will probably immediately take to social media. He'll jump headfirst into TikTok and start making content celebrating metal and nerd shit. The guilds are not his style - he's not a hero, and he's not a villain, and so he'll take the hardest path and go unaligned.
I would like to handwave it that Eddie arrived in the setting a little after the Kaijuu battles and spent a long time in the hospital recovering from his injuries. I'd like for Eddie to lose his left leg upon arrival as it had been eaten down to the bone by bats. He'll be outfitted with a prosthetic and has spent a little time getting used to being without it. Now that he's recovered enough to be discharged, he's in the Diadem, he'll reach out on the Network to ask other characters for help modifying it into something a little more useful.
Once he's more settled I'd like to run a Jumanji-esque plot using Eddie's D&D powers. Like, just, cranking them to the max.
Eddie gathers a bunch of player characters to join him in a game of Dungeons and Dragons. Because of his reality warping powers and story telling skills, a pocket dimension is created and sucks other player characters in. These characters are then cast as the party in the campaign and have their actions and fate controlled by the ones at the table.
